Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern, evidence-based approach to therapy that helps people live more fully and meaningfully—even in the presence of pain, stress, or difficult emotions.
Rather than trying to "get rid of" uncomfortable thoughts or feelings, ACT teaches you how to make space for them, while shifting your focus toward what truly matters to you. The goal isn’t to eliminate discomfort, but to stop it from holding you back.
In ACT, we work on six key skills:
Acceptance: Learning to open up to your inner experience without judgment
Cognitive defusion: Changing your relationship with unhelpful thoughts
Mindfulness: Being present in the here and now
Self-as-context: Understanding you are more than your thoughts or feelings
Values: Clarifying what really matters to you
Committed action: Taking steps aligned with your values, even when it's hard
ACT is especially helpful if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. It helps you break free from the struggle with your thoughts and emotions, so you can focus your energy on building a life that feels meaningful and authentic.
ACT offers a compassionate and powerful enhancement to the therapeutic process.
